Install XFCE in Ubuntu 12.04

This tutorial will show you how to install XFCE in Ubuntu 12.04 Precise.Xfce is a lightweight desktop environment for UNIX-like operating systems. It aims to be fast and low on system resources, while still being visually appealing and user friendly.It’s the default user interface of Xubuntu.

1.Launch a terminal from Dash or by pressing Ctl+Alt+t

2.Run below command in your terminal to install XFCE

sudo apt-get install xfce

Enter your password if prompted

3.Log out,click the GEAR button in log in screen  and click Xfce session ,then log in via XFCE

4.You are done,enjoy.Blow is a screenshot of XFCE

5.(Optional),If you don’t like it,you can switch back to Unity then use blow command to remove it

sudo apt-get remove xfce
