Step 4 doesn’t work for me, either, but for a different reason:

        james@james-OptiPlexGX620:~$ utserver -settingspath /opt/utorrent-server-v3_0
bash: /usr/sbin/utserver: No such file or directory

but I am sure that libssl is installed:

        james@james-OptiPlex-GX620:~$ sudo apt-get install libssl0.9.8
        [sudo] password for james:
        Reading package lists… Done
        Building dependency tree
        Reading state information… Done
libssl0.9.8 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
        james@james-OptiPlex-GX620:~$
So, this must mean that /usr/sbin/utserver is missing, right? But no…

        james@james-OptiPlex-GX620:~$ sudo ln -s /opt/utorrent-server-v3_0/utserver /usr/sbin/utserver
ln: failed to create symbolic link `/usr/sbin/utserver’: File exists
        james@james-OptiPlex-GX620:~$

So I know that /usr/bin/utserver exists, but it’s not being recognised. Do I need to reboot?

          James.

what’s your error of step 4?

for the link /usr/sbin/utserver you can issue cmd

          ls -l /usr/sbin/utserver

to check if it links to correct file ,if not

          rm -f /usr/sbin/utserver

          then

          sudo ln -s /opt/utorrent-server-v3_0/utserver /usr/sbin/utserver

Did you run all the commands of step 2 ,and if there was any error?
      Or please use below command
      sudo ls /opt/utorrent-server-v3_0
to verify if these .dat files are there.

      Thanks

I had the very same problem “File not found during integrity check”. Turns out in step 4: utserver -settingspath /opt/utorrent-server-v3_0 I had inadvertently added a trailing slash using auto-complete. Remove the trailing slash and it should work fine. Whack!

I have followed the instructions step by step…
but I still get an error:
    $ utserver -settingspath /opt/utorrent-server-v3_0/
-bash: /usr/bin/utserver: Filen eller katalogen finns inte

When I check the /usr/bin/ folder the utserver is there so the link have been made.
If I sudo the command, I don’t get the error but nothing either happens.

In my utorrent-server-v3_0 folder are there just 3 files/folder

      Samuel,

What does “Filen eller katalogen finns inte” mean?
You can use below command to check if your link is working.
      file /usr/bin/utserver

      Reply
      1. Samuel

It is swedish for “File or folder can´t be found”

The respons to the file-command is:
        /usr/bin/utserver: symbolic link to `/opt/utorrent-server-v3_0/utserver’

So I guess that is fine, but why am I still unable to connect to the web ui? It’s like the program isn’t installed… or isn’t running

        Reply
        1. Samuel

I found the problem. Since I am using a 64-bit system I have to install the common 32-bit packages myself.

          sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

Didn’t think this would be necessary in the latest Ubuntu server release since it uses MultiArch, but since uTorrent isn’t in the standard repositoris you have to apply this hack.

My fault, thanks for a good tutorial :-)

      Yes,it’s used by another process.
You can reboot your Ubuntu to avoid this issue.
Or you can use “ps aux |grep dpkg” to find the process then kill it

    Hello,

I’m a newbie with Linux and I followed this guide. I wasn’t able to get it to work until I did that 32bit hack. After I did that it gave me some more grief stating that it failed to find .dat files and such, but I went into the browser and ran the 8080/gui and it worked!

Forgive the poor description of what I just said, but details don’t matter so much with my question. That is… I’m not sure what I’m doing in the terminal, I’m just following everything you guys are saying. Am I going to accidentily mess up my system somehow by putting in all these commands? Or will it be ok? DId i just convert all my 64bit libssl stuff to 32 bit with that 32bit “hack” and will I experience problems in the future because of that?

It seems like I’m downloading the file fine however the terminal keeps popping up and saying. (Filename): PIECE 330 FAILED HASH CHECK. Is that ok or what’s going on? lol thanks for the help!!
